Celebrate Flight near Northwest at the NAS Oceana Air Show 2014

Celebrate flight at the Oceana Air Show 2014, a fun event that happens just a short trip from Northwest at NAS Oceana on September 20 and 21. Along with the air show, this event gathers a number of food, craft, and other vendors together with other festivities.

The Oceana Air Show starts on Saturday, September 20. Gates open at 8 a.m. and flights begin around 10 a.m. At 3 p.m., the Blue Angels will take to the sky. Later that evening, the event includes a Beach Blast event with a talented parachute team landing on the beach and a full night of music and entertainment. The event happens all over again on Sunday, September 21, so you can choose which day you'd like to attend.

If you're interested in attending the NAS Oceana Air Show 2014, advance tickets range from $4 for bleacher seats to $14 for reserved seating, with tickets costing $1 more if purchased the day of the show. Visit the NAS Oceana Air Show website to find out more!

Panzanella Tomato Salad

Ingredients:
2-3 Tomatoes
1 Red Onion
Your favorite Vinegar Base Dressing
1/2 loaf of French Bread
1 cup of Feta Cheese

Instructions:

Slice the red onion into thin strips. Marinate tomatoes & red onion in a vinegary dressing. Toast the French bread until crunchy.

Cut the French bread into small squares.

Mix the marinated tomatoes, red onions and French bread in a medium size bowl.

Crumble the feta cheese on top.

Put On Your Dancing Shoes, Northwest Residents! The 14th Annual Norfolk Latino Music Festival Is Back!

It's back! The annual Norfolk Latino Music Festival returns for its 14th year Saturday, August 16, at Norfolk's Town Point Park. With festivities kicking off at 5 p.m., this celebration transforms Town Point Park's eight acres into a vibrant, energy-packed dance floor. Live bands and DJs will provide the soundtrack to the event, while dance instructors will take the stage to lead demonstrations in bachata, merengu, and Zumba. To help you refuel after all that dancing, authentic food will be on offer, including the cuisine from area chefs and restaurants.

Family-friendly activities will take place between 5 p.m and 8 p.m., so bring the kids along. Event-goers ages 8 to 16 can join in on a game of soccer, then take part in a craft workshop that will lead instruction in making giant flowers. Older kids (16+) can enroll in the dominoes tournament!
