Bring the Kids for a Day of Fun at the Fun Forest

June 26, 2017 9:30 am

Bring your kids for a day of fun at the Fun Forest, a 3-acre area in City Park that's unlike any playground you've seen before. The playground was built in 1995 by 1,800 volunteers and has since won the Virginia Recreation and Parks Society's "Best New Facility in Virginia" award.

The Fun Forest has an area for older children that features a dragon, a three-way telephone underground and a dolphin tunnel slide. These attractions encourage gross motor skill development while kids have fun playing. The toddler area allows kids to steer a plane, swing on a swingset, slide down a sliding board and even dig for "fossils" in the Children's Fossil Dig. Once the weather warms up, the kids can even splash around on turtle, shark and whale climbing sculptures in the aquatics area.
